"THE CONSTANTIA WINE WALK: A WANDER THROUGH VINES AND DAYS GONE BY" - The Little Hedonist

This vine-walk is the brainchild of Matt Sterne, adventurer, explorer and all-round nice guy. He focuses his years of worldly knowledge and experience into a niche al-fresco experience that will leave you thirsty for more.

One of the world’s great wine stories…

In the 1700s, Constantia wine was the toast of Europe’s most opulent balls, desired by iconic figures such as Queen Victoria, Marie Antoinette, Casanova and Napoleon.

It then disappeared without a trace, only to be found in the prose and poetry of Jane Austen, Charles Dickens and Charles Baudelaire. Until, against the odds, the icon was reborn a century later.

This tour brings the story of the “sweet, agreeable and luscious wine” to life, through all its unexpected glories and fluctuating fortunes, ensuring that somewhere between your first step and last satisfying sip, you get a better understanding of the fascinating story of Constantia.

We believe…

That Cape Town is the most beautiful city in the world, brimming with stories as diverse as its nature. Yet it suffers from a range of devastating social ills.

Our mission is to create world-class walking tours that celebrate our diversity, history and natural beauty, and, in turn, raise funds for local initiatives that introduce youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds to the joy, sense of adventure and calming power of the outdoors.

We want to help them nurture a relationship with the outside world, which can improve their sense of wellbeing and ultimately, hopefully, lead to better conservation of our wild spaces too.
